KOH CONNECT

Kia Ora Hauora Connect is an online recruitment tool designed to bridge the gap for graduating Māori tauira between tertiary study and employment.

HOW IT WORKS

Using Kia Ora Hauora Connect portal tauira create a customised professional online profile that outlines their education, and promotes their personal brand, skills and specialties. Tauira can also nominate the top three Te Whatu Ora regions they want to work for when they graduate.

Te Whatu Ora, private sector and community health organisations and their Human Resource teams have direct access to the portal and the profiles of students who want to work in their rohe when they graduate. HR teams can then work with them to find them employment.

STUDY TO MAHI

Study to Mahi is designed to practically support university tauira be confident and successful entering the health workforce.

HOW IT WORKS

In-person and online sessions run by the Programme Manager are designed to get tauira prepared to enter the workforce and includes navigating the job application process, helping define their personal brands and amplifying their skills and strengths.

TE PITOMATA GRANT WORKSHOPS

Te Pitomata grants are available annually to Māori tauira studying NZQA accredited health courses and are designed to increase the numbers of Māori studying and help them complete their studies.

HOW IT WORKS

Kia Ora Hauora run in-person and online Te Pitomata Grant workshops. These workshops provide practical support and advice to tauira so they learn how to create a successful scholarship application.

TERTIARY SUPPORT GROUP ASSISTANCE

Kia Ora Hauora understand the immense value of Māori Tertiary Student Support Groups and provides sponsorship grants of up to $2000 and in-person support for various health related kaupapa.

HOW IT WORKS

Māori Tertiary Student Support Group grants and support packages are aimed at enhancing activities or events that engage and encourage the retention of Māori tertiary students who are currently enrolled in a health-related qualification.

Kia Ora Hauora work with groups to create bespoke packages that include financial assistance as well as the support and attendance of Kia Ora Hauora team members and can include merchandise, mentors or guest speakers and photography and video services.

CAREERS EXPOS

The Kia Ora Hauora team attends Careers Expos throughout the country. They are a great way to engage with tauira face to face so they can learn about the diverse range of opportunities available within the health sector.

HOW IT WORKS

We have heaps of valuable resources on-hand to help educate and inform tauira about different jobs and health career pathways as well as helpful online information and study resources. Expos are also a great way to connect with teachers and careers advisors.

You’ll find us at Expos in Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Napier, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

TE ATA PUAO -
TERTIARY SUPPORT GRANT

Te Ata Pūao grants are available to help meet the costs associated with health related courses. Tauira can apply for one grant per year up to the value of $500.00. We open the fund twice a year so the support is there when it’s needed.

HOW IT WORKS

Kia Ora Hauora understands that tauira face many financial challenges during their tertiary studies.

Te Ata Pūao – Tertiary Support Grant can cover but is not limited to:
• Placements costs
• Uniforms
• First aid courses
• Equipment
• Travel costs
• Computers

Tauira must be registered with Kia Ora Hauora for a minimum of 6 months and be studying a course that is at least 18 months long.

CLIFTON STRENGTHS

The Clifton Strengths is a globally recognised assessment that will help tauira identify the areas where they have the greatest potential for building strength.

HOW IT WORKS

We have heaps of valuable resources on-hand to help educate and inform tauira about different jobs and health career pathways as well as helpful online information and study resources. Expos are also a great way to connect with teachers and careers advisors.

TE ATA MAHINA -
TRANSITION TO EMPLOYMENT GRANT

Te Ata Mahina grants are valued up to $500.00 per person and we open the fund twice a year so the support is there when it’s needed.

HOW IT WORKS

Kia Ora Hauora knows that the transition from study into the health workforce can be costly. Te Ata Mahina grants are available to support tauira to make the move.

Te Ata Mahina - Transition to Work grant can cover but is not limited to:
• Final examination fees
• Registration(s) (with exams or prior to employment)
• Work uniform
• Levys, VCAs, Pre-employment vetting
• Allocation of tools for practice
• Scrubs
• Immunisation & Screening Training

Tauira must be registered with Kia Ora Hauora for a minimum of 6 months and be in their final year of study.

POIPOIA TE KAKANO

Poipoia Te Kakano is a programme to improve the financial literacy and capability of tauira.

HOW IT WORKS

Designed to help build the skills and knowledge required to manage finances while studying, we work with tauira to equip them to make informed decisions concerning their wellbeing and financial aspirations.

Our online group sessions give tauira access to one on one support, quality information, resources and services.
